Programs that help children learn and grow through play
In each of our classes, we encourage free play as the main element of the curriculum. Play may be child-initiated or teacher-directed. Both independent and assisted activities are available and experience centers are set up to introduce new concepts and challenges that encourage children to explore the limits of their imagination. Children are supervised, but encouraged to follow their own interests. The daily routine includes snack time, circle time and opportunities for outdoor play.
Primary Development Objectives
Twos
For many two year-olds, preschool is the first group experience away from home. Our nurturing environment and 10:1 adult-to-child ratio ensures the needs of each child are met during this important time. The Twos Program is the beginning of the bond between parents, children and teacher. This collaborative relationship encourages the children to feel safe and creates an environment that fosters the beginning of their independence. Children learn how to share an environment with others, simple school routines and how to get along with their peers. The Twos curriculum is designed to help each child develop:
- Coping Skills
- Self-Help Skills
- Self Confidence
- Language Skills
- Hand Strength
- Balance and Coordination
Threes
One of the most important milestones for three year-olds is their readiness to develop socialization skills, self-control and independence. Each of these represents an important stepping-stone toward kindergarten readiness. The Threes Program encourages the growth of these key skills by supporting children as they learn to interact in a group setting, while balancing their desire for independence. The Threes curriculum is designed to help each child develop:
- Social Skills
- Language Skills
- Independence
- Conflict Resolution Skills / Empathy
- Self-control
- Literacy
- Fine Motor Skills
- Cognitive Skills
- Problem Solving Skills
Pre-K
A four year-old’s world revolves around developing meaningful relationships with peers. Many of the developmental building blocks have come together in a way that enables a child to successfully establish and maintain these important friendships. In addition, our philosophy of focusing on self-regulation skills and social expression sets the foundation for success in kindergarten. The Pre-K curriculum is designed to help each child develop the ability to:
- Recognize various levels of friendship and community
- Follow directions
- Play cooperatively
- Pay attention
- Control impulses
